Destinus, CUBEDIN, and OMT sign MoU to advance modular naval Hornet interceptor capability

The three companies intend to combine Hornet interceptor technology, naval platform engineering, and standardised ship interfaces into a 10-ft or 20-ft mission module for shipboard deployment.
Destinus, CUBEDIN A/S, and OMT Group A/S have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a containerized naval counter-UAS capability, integrating the Destinus Hornet family into a 10-ft or 20-ft mission module for shipboard deployment. The agreement was announced at DALO Industry Days in Herning, Denmark.
The concept is designed to give navies an additional, scalable interceptor layer against high-volume aerial threats, complementing higher-end shipborne air-defence systems. It combines Destinus’ interceptor technology, OMT’s naval platform engineering, and CUBEDIN’s standardised ship interfaces.
The mission-module approach is designed for integration into existing vessels and future ship classes, subject to platform-specific engineering and qualification. It addresses a growing and diversifying threat set, including Class 2 unmanned aerial systems and adjacent threat categories.
Under the MoU, Destinus intends to contribute the Hornet interceptor system and mission module, OMT naval platform engineering and maritime design, and CUBEDIN standardised interfaces and integration architecture. Each partner will support concept development, design reviews, and qualification within its own scope.
“Navies need more defence and deterrence capacity against threats that keep multiplying, without spending a high-end missile on every engagement,” said Wouter van Beek, Chief Commercial Officer at Destinus. “A modular mission architecture is a practical way to bring Hornet aboard different vessel classes without redesigning the ship around it.”
“Modularity and adaptability are becoming defining requirements for future naval capabilities,” said Kåre Groes Christiansen, CEO of OMT Group A/S. “Combining interceptor technology with naval platform engineering and standardised interfaces lets navies add new defensive capabilities without waiting for a new ship class.”

They have to be integrated safely and efficiently into the platform,” said Danny Ingemann, CEO of CUBEDIN A/S. “Together with Destinus and OMT, we are building a standardised integration approach that shortens the path from concept to capability at sea.”
The envisaged development path includes preliminary design review, critical design review, and final qualification. The three companies also intend to pursue opportunities with European navies.
